“Travel and Connectivity” week at Expo 2020 Dubai is takes place from 9 to 15 January, 2022. Under this theme Expo will look at both physical and digital connectivity and explore how technological tools are being harnessed for betterment of humanity in key sectors, such as mobility, transport and logistics, governance, health and travel, while championing digital connectivity as a human right for all.
BiH’s representatives from both private and public sector will participate in the central event of this thematic week – the “Travel and Connectivity Business Forum”, which is focused on finding solutions for making a balance between the fast-growing global digital expansion and our physical reality.
The main goal of tourism representatives is to present the potentials and opportunities for foreign investments since the tourism sector plays a key role in the total economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is the first group of business representatives that will represent BiH at Expo 2020 Dubai with the package of support provided by the Ministry of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton.
Eighteen business representatives from the BiH tourism sector – 15 companies and 3 tourism associations – will participate in various B2B meetings, networking events, and business forums, where they will exchange their experiences and represent investment, economic, and tourism potentials to 192 participating countries. Representatives from the Tourism Association of Sarajevo Canton met with the Italian Minister of Tourism, Massimo Garavaglia, with whom they talked about their possible cooperation. Italian tourists have been choosing Sarajevo as an attractive tourist destination for years already, and they are often charmed by our rich cultural heritage, museums, beautiful nature, and amazing cuisine.
Tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our country is being recognized as one of ten countries that record a significant increase in incoming tourism. This is a unique opportunity for our tourism representatives to promote our country’s natural resources in different sectors of BiH tourism: winter tourism, ecotourism, wellness tourism, religious tourism, adventure and sports tourism, and sea tourism.
Many tourism guides often include our biggest towns to the list of towns worth visiting, which further motivates BiH tourism representatives to invite investors to invest in BiH tourism.
“We are very proud that our committed work dedicated to the development and improvement of tourism in the Sarajevo Canton is marked by our participation at Expo 2020 Dubai. Together with other participants from the private tourism sector we will promote tourism and potentials of the Sarajevo Canton and BiH, present ourselves as a desirable tourist destination with the aim of attracting new tourists. In the last year the largest number of tourists in the Sarajevo Canton came from the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which, together with other Gulf countries, will be our target group during our participation at Expo.” – said Emina Nizić, the coordinator of Visit Sarajevo.
During their visit to Expo 2020 Dubai, BiH representatives of tourism will attend forums and networking events in the pavilions of our neighboring countries.
